Your heart skips because you think have found a Boletus edulis but no, it is only a Bitter Bolete. Confirm by placing the tip of your tongue on the tubes under the cap; the taste is clearly bitter. The tubes are light pink and the stem is covered with a coarse, brown net.

Horse mushroom Double ring, with clear cog-wheel pattern on the lower ring. Smells of almonds or anise. Bruises yellow.
Note that the ring can be pulled up, not down.

Both C. venetus and C. subtortus are inedible.

Edible.
Russula integra. Dark brown cap. Gills taste like blanched almond flakes and are connected by short ribs. Cap often covered with organic debris. Top layer of cap can be peeled back more than 50%. Often hidden by moss.
